How Wedding Photography has Changed my Life

Can I share something personal?

I remember sharing the first photograph I’ve ever taken.

At that moment, I felt a bit awkward. I didn’t know if I’m supposed to be sharing those types of content on my blog.

I mean, I’m supposed to look professional, right?

How is sharing my first photograph on my website, after YEARS, professional?

Anyway.

Today, I look back and I feel proud of that person.

Because now I can look back at that image and be proud of how far I’ve come.

Sometimes it feels so surreal that I’ve moved to The Netherlands, started my own business and have been voted one of the best wedding photographers in The Hague.

Words cannot explain how thankful I am.

In 2012, I took my dad’s old camera. All the buttons on the camera had me confused for a good second.

After being so passionate about shooting with a DSLR camera, I knew I wanted to learn more.

So, I applied to the most expensive university out there, where EVERYONE can signup:  Google.com

I literally Googled EVERYTHING.

I remember constantly pulling allnighters just to learn the latest photography trick.

At that moment, I didn’t realise that I’ve found my passion. But looking back today, everything really started that day.

In 2016, I took a big decision to move to The Netherlands for my studies and I knew I had to start back from zero.

I was terrified!

“How is a young guy from Aruba with such a big dream succeed in such a huge country?”

But I had to make a decision without having any attached feelings of what would’ve happened if I’ve had chosen the alternative.

I knew I wanted to live a life that makes me happy while being creative, healthy and financially fulfilled.

In 2017, I made a decision to start my own wedding photography business and I’ve been photographing happy couples ever since.

I love it. My job is so, so much fun!

  • Yes, there are moments that I feel exhausted.
  • Yes, there are moments when I feel that I’m too young to dream such a big dream.
  • Yes, there are moments where I doubt myself.

But, I know that if I don’t do the thing that I’m passionate about, I won’t be living my purpose.

And I believe, we all have a purpose in life. (Yes, also you!)

I want to make sure that I can motivate, entertain and leave a positive impact on the world.

Right now, whether is by documenting a couple’s special day, or just making someone smile on social media. I want to make sure I can transmit positive energy.

That’s my purpose.

So, if you’re here… thank you for being here.

I appreciate you being here and sharing this journey with me.
